Simply GIFs (1 Mac)
$5 one-time
For your Mac.
A tiny Mac app that only makes GIFs.
Record a bit of your Mac screen, trim it, and get a GIF.
I make a lot of little screen GIFs: a button doing its thing, a bug report, a moment worth showing someone. Every tool I tried wanted to be a video editor first. So I made one that only does GIFs.
Press ⌃⌥⌘G, or pick Record region from the menu. Drag over the part of the screen you want and record. Stop, trim in a looping preview, and save. The GIF goes to your Downloads folder, ready to paste.
It's small, it's quiet, and it does one thing carefully.

Designers showing an interaction. Writers and teachers showing a step. Anyone filing a bug who's tired of typing "click here, then there." If you want a short GIF and not a video project, this is for you.

That's how macOS lets an app see the part of the screen you're recording. You can also turn it on in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording (called Screen & System Audio Recording on macOS 15 and later).
